Do it!: 500 pizzas and flatbreads

pizza margherita

Invented in 1889 and named for Queen Margherita, this pizza features the three colors of the Italian flag - red tomatoes, white mozzarella, and green basil.
1 basic pan pizza crust
1 basic pan pizza sauce
4 oz. baby bocconcini, sliced thin (or sliced mozzarella)
4 large basil leaves, roughly torn
Preheat oven to 550F. Spread sauce evenly, leaving 1/2-in. around the edge.
Distribute cheese slices.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes on rack in lower half of oven, until cheese is melted and crust is golden brown. Sprinkle pieces of basil over pizza.
Slice into wedges and serve.
