TRAILER CHOIR

Tailgate
This coed country's trio debut gets production from label chief Toby Keith. Will you like it? Depends on how much tailgating you've done.

Foundling
After stumbling a bit on his last outing, 2009's Draw the Line, this British singer-songwriter quickly finds his footing again with an evocative, folk-inflected album in which you can lose yourself.

OUT TUESDAY 9/14

Weezer
Hurley
***
When Weezer chose a pic of Lost's Jorge Garcia as its eighth CD's cover, it was clear their zaniness was still intact. But the alt-rockers again ably mine darker emotions too, like when singer Rivers Cuomo cries, "Make the hurt go away" on "Run Away." (Epitaph)

Mavis Staples

You Are Not Alone
****
Gospel/R&B
You know something serious is up when Mavis Staples is playing Lollapalooza. The 71-year-old R&B-gospel great was joined by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy during her performance at the Chicago music festival last month, but the unlikely pair had already teamed up to make this inspired album of spirituals and soul-sanctified covers. With Tweedy keeping it real authentic behind the boards, Staples takes it to church on traditionals, two songs from dad Pop Staples and others by John Fogerty and Randy Newman. Tweedy also contributes two originals, including the title track, on which Staples provides the comfort of a higher power.
